I did not find a marriage record that would fit with John's age, however in the settlement of his estate in 1823, it is clearly stated that the widow took her 1/3 of the estate. Frequently, John is listed with Susannah Ergelbright as his wife but in the resolution of John's estate, John & Susannah Sheetz signed the estate settlement. In 1830, a Barbara Sheets appears in the census record plus Michael Sheets' death record list Barbara as being his mother's name. Another John Sheets, who was listed as a carpenter, made his coffin.
John was listed as surety in the marriage bond for the following people, Henry, Peggy, and Catherine. The marriage bond of Henry states that John is the father of Henry. Michael's death record listed John and Barbara as his parents.
